"William Cash was born in 1857 at Cash's Crossing on the Pine River (which was named after his father). He left home aged 17 years and hauled cedar timber from the Blackall/Maleny ranges to Bell's Creek where it was rafted downstream to Caloundra, then shipped to Dath Henderson's timber to Petrie Creek and later from Doonan and Cootharaba to Noosa River where logs were picked up by shallow-draft steamers. Whilst in the Tewantin District he married Miss Mary Campbell, daughter of the first baker in the Noosa district.
Mr Cash's property was situated at the now dead-end of Cash's Road. The land on the southern side was settled by Mr Robinson and on the north and west side by Mr Burke and at the back which ended on the top of a large almost bare hill (known then as Cash's Jump Up) was settled by a Mr Deifinback".
